What Are You Carrying That No Longer Belongs to You?
We get used to carrying things.
Expectations. Roles. Old versions of ourselves. Other people’s opinions. Responsibilities we never actually agreed to. The pressure to be who everyone has always known us to be.
And because we’ve carried them for so long, we stop noticing how heavy they are.
Reflection gives us a chance to notice.
Not everything needs to be fixed. Sometimes it simply needs to be named.
Maybe you’re carrying the idea that you should be further along by now.
Maybe you’re holding onto guilt because choosing yourself disappointed someone.
Maybe you’ve become so good at being the dependable one that you’ve forgotten what it feels like to ask for support.
Or maybe something that once fit your life simply doesn’t anymore.
That doesn’t make the old version wrong.
It just means you’ve changed.
There is something powerful about asking yourself, Does this still belong to me?
Not: Can I keep carrying it?
You probably can.
The question is whether you still should.
Reflection isn’t about judging the choices that brought you here. It’s about becoming aware enough to choose what you want to carry forward.
And sometimes the most loving thing you can do for yourself is put something down.
A moment to reflect:
What are you carrying out of habit rather than intention?
